Oak Lawn Cops Ramp Up DUI And Distracted Driving Patrols Over Labor Day Weekend
Oak Lawn police will be paying extra attention to the roads through Labor Day, Sept. 1, for impaired drivers and seat belt violators.
OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn police will join over 200 law enforcement agencies across Illinois participating in the statewide “Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get A DUI” and “Click It Or Ticket” campaigns this Labor Day, which falls on Monday, Sept. 1.
From now until the early morning hours of Sept. 2 police will be running extra enforcement patrols. Officers will be looking for impaired and distracted driving, as well as seat belt violators.
“Driving under the influence — whether it’s alcohol, cannabis or any impairing drug — is not just risky, it’s illegal,” said Sgt. Nick Kumke, of the Oak Lawn Police Department. “We’ll be patrolling with zero tolerance for impaired driving, because our goal is to protect the people of Oak Lawn.”

Officers will also be enforcing seat belt laws as part of the “Click It or Ticket” initiative. Buckling up is the most effective way to prevent serious injury or death in a crash. Everyone in the vehicle — front seat or back — should be properly buckled, every trip.
Expect to see heightened police presence in Oak Lawn as well as other nearby communities. Officers will be focused on stopping impaired driving, enforcing seat belt laws and reducing other dangerous driving behaviors.
