OAK LAWN, IL — The Oak Lawn Police Department released the results of its speed enforcement campaign from July 8 through Aug. 1. The aim of the “Speeding Catches Up With You” campaign was to encourage motorists to adopt safer driving practices.

Oak Lawn police joined the statewide effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police, aiming to reduce highway fatalities and injuries associated with speeding.

  • 136 speeding citations
  • 06 seat belt citations
  • 03 distracted driving citations
  • 46 other citations (moving and equipment violations)
  • 02 DUI arrests
  • 01 felony arrests
  • 03 criminal arrests (suspended/revoked licenses)
  • 01 drug arrests for PCS

This campaign aligns with IDOT’s broader "It’s Not a Game" initiative, emphasizing that dangerous driving behaviors have serious consequences.

This speed enforcement effort was funded by federal highway safety dollars administered by IDOT.
