A fiberglass acorn cast for Oak Lawn’s public art program was stolen this month after the Fall on the Green, and the village wants the acorn back. The piece is a prototype, about 3 feet by 4 feet, and is worth $1,000.
“If you have seen this acorn, please return it to the village of Oak Lawn,” Trustee Alex Olejniczak said at the village board meeting this week, broadcast on cable access. “I’m sure somebody mistakenly took it home with them. If we get it back, that would be greatly appreciated.”
The Oak Lawn Arts Commission is in charge of the acorn project. It’s one of two acorn artworks for the village. The second will be placed on the east lawn of village hall.

“If any resident knows where it is or took it by mistake, no questions asked, we will happily take it back,” said Mayor Sandra Bury, good naturedly with a chuckle. “If you’re a parent and your teenage son showed up with it and said it was a school art project, don’t believe it.”
