OLCHS Athletes Excel In The Classroom In Fall 2024

OAK LAWN, IL — Students participating in fall sports at Oak Lawn Community High School are not only talented athletes, they’re smart, too. The Illinois High School Association and the South Suburban Conference take time each sports season to recognize student-athletes who excel on the field and in the classroom.

The IHSA Scholastic Achievement Awards are given to junior and senior athletes who maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The SSC All-Academic Athletic Team consists of only senior athletes with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Here is a look at Oak Lawn Community High School athletes who were recognized by the IHSA. The asterisks denote SSC recipients.

In boys golf it was David Bush, Jack Dempsey, and Shane Mulcahy*. For Boys Soccer it was Adam Cichorz, Emiliano Lopez, Abel Herrera*, Tristan Kramarz*, and Dylan Walsh*. The Boys Cross Country recipients were Mustafa Adam, Charles Levora, Hamzah Abdeljaber*, Andrew Leon*, Christian Orozco*, Gavin Rybicki*, and Kyle Rzepka*.

In football the athletes were Liam Madden, John Olejniczak, Faris Qatanani, Alberto Silva, Alex Soto, Tadhg Walsh, and Mustafa Ajaj*. For Girls Golf it was Katesavanh Demlow, Jacquelin Canales*, Kaitlyn Casey*, and Annie McGrath*. In Girls Tennis it was Nathalia Navarro, Sophia Valdez, Virginia Whitener, Reehan Aldeek, Julia Bolcarovic, Haley Meskill, Eliza Janik*, Izabela Kij, Jessica Komperda*, Madyson Lany*, Mia Wendt*, Avery Wessel*, and Alexa Quintana*.

For volleyball the recipients were Haydee Manriquez, Maryam Hussein, Kasey Thompson, Kaitlyn Berkery*, Kailey Dykema*, Emma McAuliffe*, Rihana Osmani*, and Hailey Wierzgac*. For Girls Swim and Dive the award winners were Noemi Castillo, Klaudia Latocha, Amelia Fudala*, Alessandra Gabriel*, and Mya Orozco. In Girls Cross Country it was Munya Yasin, Isabel Abarca*, Nadine Taha*, and Hadeel Yasin*.
