2 Arrested After Multi-Vehicle Crash On I-290: Police
The crash involved an SUV that was fleeing police after a person brandished a gun out of the vehicle, authorities said.
MAYWOOD, IL — A person brandished a gun out of an SUV that was later involved in a multi-vehicle interstate crash, according to police.
The incident began Tuesday morning when a person waved a gun out of a dark gray BMW SUV at Ninth Avenue and St. Charles Road in Maywood, police said.
Authorities tried to stop the SUV at nearby Sixth Avenue and Lake Street, but it sped away and officers ended the pursuit, according to police. Law enforcement saw the SUV enter eastbound Interstate 290 at Ninth Avenue, police said. The SUV continued speeding and crashed into multiple vehicles between First and DesPlaines avenues, and caused a multi-car collision, according to police.

Three people fled the SUV on foot, two of whom were apprehended, police said, adding a loaded gun was also recovered.
