4-Year-Old Girl Killed By Child In Accidental Shooting: River Grove Police
The girl's father was outside when the shooting happened and said his gun was stored on a high shelf, according to police.
RIVER GROVE, IL — A 4-year-old girl was accidentally shot and killed by another child Wednesday at a home in River Grove, according to police.
Camila Ariana Duarte died just before 1 p.m. at Loyola University Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Emergency personnel responded around 10 a.m. to the 2400 block of West Street and found the girl severely injured, police said. Her father told authorities he was outside when another child alerted him to the shooting and he called 911, according to police.

The man has valid FOID and concealed carry cards and is cooperating with investigators, police said, adding he admitted to owning the gun used in the shooting, which he claimed was stored on a high shelf in a closet.
