50+ People Involved In Funeral Fight That Led To Shooting: Police
Two men were arrested after a west suburban funeral turned violent, according to police.

MAYWOOD, IL — A west suburban funeral devolved into a fight involving more than 50 people, a shooting and two arrests, according to police.
Tony Lawrence, 37, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, and Christopher Lewis, 34, also of Chicago, was charged with aggravated battery, police said.
The two were taken into custody after authorities responded to a funeral Friday at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in the 1300 block of West Madison Street in Maywood, according to authorities. Police received a call about over 50 people who had begun to physically fight inside the church, authorities said.

Gunfire broke out and one person was struck and suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police, who said they apprehended Lawrence as the crowd fled and arrested Lewis at the scene as well.
Both men appeared in bond court and were released over the weekend, police said.
