1. A person was killed and six others were injured Saturday at a house party in Austin, the Sun-Times reports. Police said “a verbal altercation” led to the shooting in the 4800 block of West Iowa Street. One of the injured was treated at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. (Paid source: Sun-Times)

2. The Illinois budget passed last week in Springfield, including “several provisions that benefit the Village” of River Forest, officials announced in this month’s online newsletter. Funds will go toward demolishing the water tower near Harlem and Central, street projects and other capital improvements. (VRF)
