Abducted Baby Found in Oak Park

The boy was taken from a Chicago treatment center by his 41-year-old parolee mother.

An eight-month-old boy whose mother abducted him from a Chicago "treatment center" on April 9th was located and secured in Oak Park on Monday afternoon, the Cook County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) had issued a child protection warrant for the infant on April 18 after the mother, who is on parole for retail theft, failed to appear for an appointment at the center.

The boy has been returned to custody with the IDCFS. He was located the same day that the Sheriff's officers recieved the warrant.

The Sheriff's Office is touting the recovery as another success for Sheriff Thomas J. Dart's child protection unit, founded in Oct. 2012, which the office says has rescued 133 children over the past six months.
