Berwyn, IL - The Washington Island Fish Boil Festival will make the winter blues disappear. Yes, The Islanders are invading the club once again for an authentic Door County fresh fish boil party! A feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds, a bubbling, flaming cauldron (manned by Islander Ken Koyen, aka “The Fish Mortician”) serves up fresh-caught Lake Michigan whitefish, and hearty Wisconsin red potatoes paired with cole slaw and Ken’s family style dessert.

Island troubadour Julian Hagen is gathering a group of musician pals to make up the Island All-Star Band (7:30 pm) and the Fiddler’s Green Jam Session (5:30 pm). There’ll also be Washington Island-connected door prizes, slide show and raffle! Doors open at 3:30 pm; first boil followed by first dinner seating at around 4:30 pm. Get there early to watch the cauldron boil over!

MUSICIANS:

JULIAN HAGEN, a 4th generation Washington Islander, has had music flowing through his veins all of his life. Being raised in a musical family inspired him to start writing songs at an early age. He also recognized, during these early years, the power of music and its ability to move people. His original songs, whether serious or humorous, are easily related to. This music is acoustically driven, folk based, but stylistically adventurous. Performing and sharing his original songs bring Julian great joy. Yet to sit in a circle with other musicians and with people who do not typically have the opportunity to sing and watch the Magic happen as the music begins is just as rewarding.

LYNN GUDMUNDSEN: Fiddler extraordinaire. Lynn has played with Willie Nelson, Vassar Clements and many more.

PARIS SCHUTZ: An excellent keyboardist and singer, Paris plays both solo and in bands. He is the political correspondent for WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight” and wrote their theme song.

RICK GOURLEY: Rick was the bass player for the renowned Chicago band Jump In The Saddle Band for about 7 years. He is a killer guitar player.

ALEXANDER KONETSHI: Alexander is a singer with the golden pipes who sounds great whether singing Sam Cooke or Led Zeppelin and everything in between.

CHRISTINE MILD: Christine is actress and singer from Chicago. She has been part of a professional Patsy Cline review as well as a ton of other musicals. Phenomenal voice!

NELLIE SWAN: Nellie, singer/songwriter from Nashville, is a great vocalist and full of mischief.
