2. Deputy Village Manager Lisa Shelley will officially begin serving as interim village manager beginning Aug. 20. Oak Park trustees unanimously voted for Shelley to take the role at last week’s board meeting. Current Village Manager Cara Pavlicek departs for Northbrook Aug. 19. (Wednesday Journal)
3. Oak Park and River Forest High School students are reflecting after a year of pandemic stress and challenges - and the impact of one group’s efforts to propose a “no-fail” policy. 4. The CTA reports ridership is up 56 percent since January, transporting about 4 million riders a week. Spokesperson Catherine Hofinski told the Tribune she expects the numbers to increase even more this fall as students return to campus. 5. Longtime Oak Leaves and Forest Leaves reporter Steve Schering has left Pioneer Press after 12 years. Along with several other veteran Chicago Tribune reporters, Schering took a buyout from Alden Global Capital, which acquired the Tribune and its smaller papers earlier this year. (Twitter)
