1. Two good Samaritans pulled a driver from a burning car earlier this week in the 200 block of South Harlem. Katie Bochenek and Matthew Salter told NBC Chicago they would like to meet the person they helped save, who was rushed to the hospital after crashing into a tree. “The fact that somebody is alive from that crash, weighs heavy on me and weighs heavy on my heart,” Salter said. “I want to meet that man and give him a hug.” (NBC)

2. The Illinois Senate led by Sen. Don Harmon of Oak Park passed the state budget Thursday, NBC Chicago reports. “This is a budget that invests in schools in red districts and in blue districts. We’re investing in hospitals in red districts and in blue districts and health care workers across the state. We’re investing in municipalities in your districts and in ours,” Harmon said. (NBC)

3. A member of the Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 Board stepped down this week. Kebreab Henry is resigning to move out of state near his aging parents, the Wednesday Journal reports. Details on the process to replace him for a two-year term are expected to be announced May 30. (Wednesday Journal)

4. Oak Park officials have lifted on-street parking restrictions this weekend in honor of the Memorial Day holiday. Regular parking rules resume Tuesday night. River Forest street closures begin Monday morning for the annual parade. (VOP/VRF)
