Man With Stolen Mail Charged In 2 Armed Robberies Of Letter Carriers: Authorities

Law enforcement recovered stolen postal keys and a gun that the man had tried to discard before his arrest, authorities said.

FOREST PARK, IL — A Chicago man faces charges in connection with two armed robberies of letter carriers in Forest Park, according to authorities.

Devan Flax, 20, was arrested Tuesday, authorities said, noting that a search of his person revealed stolen mail. The robberies occurred Saturday in the 900 block of Beloit Avenue and Tuesday in the 1100 block of Beloit Avenue, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, which added that authorities recovered stolen postal keys and a gun that Flax had tried to discard before his arrest.

Flax is charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated robbery and three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, authorities said.
