New Assistant Superintendent Appointed for D97 Finance and Operations
Alicia Evans will replace Therese O'Neill, who is retiring at the conclusion of the school year.

Oak Park, IL - During its meeting on March 15, the District 97 Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Alicia Evans as the district’s new assistant superintendent for finance and operations.
Evans will replace Therese O’Neill, who is retiring at the conclusion of the 2015-16 school year.

“I want to thank Therese O’Neill not only for her leadership and dedicated service during her eight years here in District 97, but also for the passionate commitment to learning she has exhibited throughout her remarkable 45-year career in education,” said Superintendent Carol Kelley. “I also want to congratulate Alicia on her appointment, and welcome her to our district. I believe her exemplary qualifications and wealth of experience will aid the continued growth of our schools and success of our students.”
Prior to joining District 97, Evans served for five years as the chief school business official and human resources director for Prairie-Hills Elementary School District 144. She was the business manager for Hoover-Schrum Memorial School District 157 for five years. She was a manager for the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority for four years. She was also an accountant for Advocate Health Partners for one year, and a senior accountant for the Chicago Housing Authority for three years.

Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Roosevelt University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. She also earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Roosevelt University.
Evans, who currently resides in Chicago, said she is looking forward to joining the Oak Park community and is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in District 97.
“I have always had a great deal of respect for Oak Pak, and have long admired its staunch support of its schools and the children they serve,” said Evans. “That is why I am incredibly honored to be a member of the District 97 team, and am eager to begin contributing to its proud traditions of strong fiscal stewardship and academic excellence.”
