Oak Park Police report two burglaries, theft and more over Fourth of July weekend

Officers also recovered a stolen car reported taken in Chicago.

Burglary and theft

More than $6,000 worth of electrical and other items were stolen from an Oak Park home in the 800 block of Washington Street July 4, according to Oak Park police reports. The offenders obtained entry to the secured door of the building and the victim’s private condominium using a pry tool.

Two bicycles and a set of keys attached to the bikes were stolen from a garage in the 300 block of South Kenilworth July 5 after an unknown person or persons entered the side service door, according to Oak Park police reports. They were valued at $1,000 in the report.

A purse, cell phone, cash, a driver’s license and credit cards were stolen from an unattended shopping cart July 4 in the 6500 block of west Roosevelt Road, according to Oak Park police reports.

Obstructing a peace officer

David E. Maclean, 24, of Chicago was arrested July 5 for obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and loitering in the 700 block of South Austin, according to Oak Park police reports. He was released on bond.

Recovery of motor vehicle

A 2002 Chevrolet Malibu reported stolen by the Chicago Police Department was recovered July 5 in the 1200 block of North Austin Avenue, according to Oak Park police reports.

Criminal Damage to property

An unknown person used a rock to break a window and screen on the first floor of an apartment building July 5 in the 400 block of South Ridgeland, according to Oak Park police reports.
