Detective From Chicago Dies In Oak Park Police Shooting
Allan Reddins, a 40-year-old detective with the Oak Park Police Department, has died after being shot Friday morning
OAK PARK, IL — A 40-year-old police officer is dead after he was shot Friday morning in Oak Park, according to media reports.
Allan Reddins, a detective with the Oak Park Police Department, was initially taken to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition after being shot in the side and died less than an hour later, police said.
The shooting happened after Reddins responded to a report of an armed person seen leaving a local bank in the 1000 block of Lake Street at about 9:40 a.m., according to a news release from the Oak Park Police Department.

The alleged shooter is in custody in connection. He was shot in the leg and is receiving treatment at Loyola Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition, police said.

Reddins, of Chicago, was first sworn in as an Oak Park Police Department officer in May 2019.
The fatal officer-involved shooting is the first line-of-duty death since 1938 for the Oak Park Police Department, police said.
