Oak Park, IL, July 31, 2024 – It is with profound sadness that Oak Park Township announces the passing of Township Supervisor Clarmarie Keenan on July 30, 2024. A private visitation and interment will be held in honor of Clarmarie Keenan.
Clarmarie Keenan dedicated her life to public service and made significant contributions to the community over a long and distinguished career. Beginning with Oak Park Township in 1997 as the Township Collector, Clarmarie Keenan's dedication and commitment led to election as Township Trustee in 2001. In 2017, Clarmarie Keenan was elected as Township Supervisor, serving with unparalleled dedication, integrity, and compassion.

Clarmarie Keenan's background laid a strong foundation for her career in public service. A Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology was earned from the University of Michigan, followed by a Master of Arts in Human Services from Concordia University Chicago. With over fifteen years in non-profit management, Clarmarie Keenan brought a wealth of experience in maximizing resources and strategic planning to elected roles.
Throughout the tenure as Supervisor, Clarmarie Keenan was known for tireless efforts to enhance the quality of life for all Oak Park residents. She championed numerous initiatives aimed at improving social services, supporting senior citizens, and fostering community engagement. Clarmarie Keenan's leadership and vision have left an indelible mark on Oak Park Township, inspiring future generations.
On behalf of the Oak Park Township Board of Trustees and staff, heartfelt condolences are extended to the Keenan family. The board collectively expressed, "Clarmarie Keenan's unwavering commitment to Oak Park will be deeply missed. Profound gratitude is extended for many years of dedicated service, and thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."
As the longest serving member of the Oak Park Township Board of Trustees, Adekunle "Ade" B. Onayemi will serve as the Interim Township Supervisor. The Board of Trustees will follow the appointment process detailed in the Illinois Township Code to fill the position for the remainder of her term.
