Since the Oak Park Regional Housing Center’s inception in 1972, its mission has been to achieve racial integration by highlighting diversity through continued fair housing policies. Lilly visited the Oak Park Regional Housing Center to speak with their staff regarding future efforts and events that promote fair and affordable housing within in and beyond Oak Park.
“Not long ago, parts of our country did not welcome the idea of celebrating our diversity and actively blocked integration efforts, including fair housing,” said Lilly. “But in Oak Park and elsewhere, it is refreshing to see local residents actively embracing and supporting diversity instead of resisting it.”
