1. Oak Park residents are reacting to the village’s indoor mask mandate, which went into effect late last week. The health department and business owners encourage masking and vaccination after COVID-19 cases jumped more than 700 percent in July. (NBC5)

2. A 30-year-old man was shot and killed in the 5400 block of West Augusta Boulevard in Austin Sunday. Another man was struck by gunfire but ultimately stabilized at Mt. Sinai Hospital. (Chicago Sun-Times)

3. The Oak Park Area Arts Council unveiled a new mosaic mural this weekend at 914 North Blvd. Teens from “Off the Wall” summer arts employment program designed and created the mural, titled “Parrot Pandemonium.” (VOP)

4. Nonprofit group Seven Generations Ahead will hold its annual zero-waste Micro Brew Review in Oak Park Aug. 21. (WGN Radio)

5. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is launching a new program to respond to the increase in 911 calls related to mental illness. First responders will use tablets to connect callers with mental health professionals via video call. (WGN)
