River Forest Police Reports: DUI, Trespass, Fraud, Theft

River Forest police reported incidents from Jan. 1 to 13.

At 1:35 a.m. Jan. 2, an officer saw a car commit several traffic violations in the area of 7200 Lake Street. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver showed signs of intoxication. The driver, David Alonso, 22 of Stone Park, was unable to produce a driver’s license or proof of insurance. He smelled of burt cannabis. He failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody. Found in his possession were a one-hitter cannabis pipe, two suspect Xanax pills and a bottle of liquor. Alonso was taken to the hospital for completion of an alcohol/drugs DUI kit. Once at the station, Alonso was processed and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI-drugs, and several other traffic violations.

At 11:02 a.m. Jan. 6, an officer saw someone near a business who had previously received criminal trespass warnings from River Forest Town Center Security. Jeremiah L. Ollison, 26 of Chicago, had been arrested previously for violating these trespass warnings. Ollison was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass to property.

At 1:37 p.m. Jan. 6, officers were sent to the River Forest Town Center for reports of a person trespassing on the property. Officers found Damion M. Fisher, 37 of Forest Park, and took him into custody. Fisher was charged with criminal trespass to property.

At 6:18 p.m. Jan. 7, officers were sent to the 8000 block of Lake Street for reports of a car burglary. The victim said someone had removed a shopping bag from the trunk of her car. The shopping bag contained $330-worth of purses and jackets. The trunk was not damaged, and it may have been left open by accident.

At 10:38 p.m. Jan. 8, officers were sent to a business in the 7500 block of W. Lake for reports of someone trying to buy items using fraudulent gift cards. Christopher E. Beasley, 34 of Chicago, was taken into custody. Further investigation revealed Beasley was in possession of six altered and recoded fraudulent debit cards. Beasley had tried to buy a $500 Visa gift card using the fraudulent cards. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Felony Review Unit was contacted and they approved one count of unlawful use/possession of altered credit card.

At 12:15 p.m. Jan. 11, an officer was sent to the police department lobby for reports of a criminal damage to a car. The victim related sometime between Jan. 7 and 9, his car was shot on the hood. The victim was not sure if the damage occurred in Chicago or River Forest. The victim provided an address in Chicago where he had parked his car for a few days. The investigating officer spoke with Chicago police, who related that there had been several reports of shots fired in the area where the victim had parked his car.

At 4:42 p.m. Jan. 11, an officer was sent to the 100 block of Keystone for a theft report. The victim related that a UPS package containing eight wine glasses valued at approximately $160 was taken from her front porch earlier in the day.
