River Forest Police Reports: Trespassing, Theft, Death Investigation

River Forest police reported incidents from Jan. 14 to 22.

At 4:52 a.m. Jan. 14, officers responded to 7574 W. Division, Trinity High School, for reports of woman found in one of the school buses by an employee. Officers found the woman and another person wrestling on the ground. Further investigation revealed that Margot G. Doppes, 20-years old of River Forest, had entered an unlocked Trinity School Bus without permission. While inside the bus, Doppes drank beer and smoked cannabis before she was confronted by a school employee. Doppes was found to have a small amount of cannabis. Doppes was taken to the station and charged with criminal trespass to motor vehicle, resisting arrest, obstructing a police officer, unlawful consumption of alcohol and possession of cannabis.

At 7:59 a.m. Jan. 15, an officer, while conducting a foot patrol in Jewel Foods-7525 W. Lake, was approached by a store manager about a retail theft in progress. A man tried to flee the store with $111 worth of groceries, but he was taken into custody at the exit doors. Eric Hart, 51 of Maywood, was charged with retail theft, resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer.

At 5:54 p.m. Jan. 6, officers were dispatched to Whole Foods Market, 7245 W. Lake, for reports of a criminal trespass incident. Officers found Anthony W. Yusken III, 51 of Oak Park, and took him into custody. Yusken had been arrested previously for the same offense and had been banned from the store. He was charged with criminal trespass to property.

At 1:10 a.m. Jan. 17, officers were sent to the 1500 block of Harlem for a loud party complaint. The resident refused to cooperate with officers and admitted to allowing underage college students to drink alcohol. Quinn R. Pokora, 21 of River Forest, was arrested after a brief struggle. Further investigation revealed he was in possession of several prescription narcotic pills that were the property of another person. Quinn was charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and allowing a minor to consume alcohol.

At 1:28 a.m. Jan. 20, officers and paramedics were sent to the Shell Gas Station, 7201 W. North Ave, for reports of a man passed out in the bathroom. A 27-year-old man from Chicago was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. There were no signs of trauma. Police worked to identify the deceased, and were able to notify his next of kin. The deceased was transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The results of the autopsy are pending. Investigators are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the man’s family to determine if any criminality was involved. Preliminary investigation has included the likelihood of a heroin overdose.

At 10:50 a.m. Jan. 20, officers were sent to the Fresh Thyme Market construction site, 7501 W. North Ave, for reports of a burglary. Sometime overnight, a generator and a heater were taken from the construction site. The loss was valued at $1,600. Entry was gained to the site by damaging a padlock. The Detective Unit is conducting a follow-up investigation.
