1. Fitzgerald’s Fine Stationery was targeted by attempted burglars earlier this week, according to the Oak Park Police Department’s daily summary report. A witness told police one of two subjects showed her a handgun Feb. 7 at the rear of the downtown business on Marion Street. She went inside and called 911. Police recovered a safe in the alley and no loss was reported. (OPPD)

2. Turano Baking Company will expand parking options at its Roosevelt Road location to make room for overflow vehicles. The village approved the permit earlier this week. (Wednesday Journal)

3. The Village of Oak Park will host a Black History Month celebration next weekend. The free Feb. 18 event will be held at the Nineteenth Century Club. (VOP)

4. The Forest Park location of Kribi Coffee is expected to add later hours, alcoholic beverages and music events to its offerings, the Review reports. Changes could begin as early as this spring, Director of Operations Abbey Brumfiel told the paper. (Review)

5. A new “Inspired by History” creative writing group is launching this month at the Oak Park River Forest Museum. The first free session is set for Feb. 16. (Museum)
