1. Two people sitting in a parked car were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday in Oak Park, according to police. The offender pointed a handgun inside the vehicle in the 200 block of Chicago and demanded their wallets, getting away with $800. (OPPD)
2. Oak Park trustees approved a ban on the use of Styrofoam containers at local restaurants beginning next year, the Wednesday Journal reports. A new ordinance will also ban plastic utensils unless requested by the customer beginning June 1. (Wednesday Journal)
3. The CDC issued a health alert this week after more than a dozen new cases of mpox were reported in Chicago, the highest case count in any city nationwide. Of the 13 reported cases, nine were detected in vaccinated people. More information about mpox, formerly called monkeypox, is available through the Oak Park Department of Public Health. (Patch)
4. The Oak Park Farmers Market returns tomorrow morning and runs weekly through October. The event, entering its 48th season, is held weekly at the Pilgrim Congregational Church parking lot from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. (VOP)
