This Is Where You Can Get Free Parking for 5 More Days in Oak Park

Parking restrictions on main streets go back into effect early on Wednesday.

Oak Park's usual evening parking ban has been lifted on most streets through the winter holidays, but that time is running out.

The ban hasn't been enforced on most residential streets since Christmastime but will resume at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, the village announced in a newsletter Thursday. Restrictions aren't lifted in paid overnight permit areas, officials said, which includes on-street zones.

Other public parking restrictions remain in effect, according to the release, including posted restrictions and regulations for traffic and public safety.

The village also made a point to remind residents of parking rules for snowy weather, including the fact that parking on main streets designated as snow routes is prohibited if two or more inches of snow accumulate on the roads.

Parking on other streets during snowy months is restricted to one side from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in residential areas and from midnight to 8 a.m. in other designated commercials districts, the village said.
