• Red Cross Encourages Blood Donations During the Holidays (wtyefm.com) — Oblong residents have a chance to donate blood this Friday at Oblong Grade School, where the Red Cross will host a drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. With holiday travel and busy schedules threatening supplies, type O-negative and platelet donors are especially encouraged to roll up their sleeves locally.

• Carolyn Marie Rich (wtyefm.com) — Family and friends in Oblong will note that Carolyn Rich worked at Ridgeview Care Center and that Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong is handling her arrangements and memorial gifts. The longtime Willow Hill resident is remembered for her devotion to caregiving, her church, and her large, close-knit family, with a celebration of life to be held later.
