Aspiring Latin King Caused Scene at Mall, Thrashed Around in Back of Cop Car, Cut Leg: Police

He and his girlfriend argued over his plans to join the Latin Kings, police said, and also his new girlfriend.

ORLAND PARK, IL — An aspiring Latin King caused a scene at the Orland Square Mall when he and his girlfriend argued over his plans to launch a career in crime, police said, and also about the new girlfriend he had “taken.”

The cops were called to the parking lot of the mall’s Sears to look into a disturbance.

An officer said he arrived to find 35-year-old William Zendejas speaking to another officer “in a loud voice and pointing at him,” according to a police report, which also said Zendejas had alcohol on his breath.

Zendejas, a Blue Island resident, was apparently unimpressed by the law, the report said.

“William pointed at my jacket and flicked my jacket,” an officer said, according to the report. “William said that it was none of my business and my badge did not mean anything to him.”

And Zendejas was even more disdainful of mall security, the report said, as he “began to yell at (a guard) and tell her that she was playing police and nothing more.”

Zendejas was arrested but struggled when he was placed in a squad car, slipping and falling and hitting his head before he could take a seat, police said. He then reportedly thrashed around in the back of the cop car, cutting his leg in the process.

Zendejas’ girlfriend explained that they had gone to the mall so she could get her broken iPhone fixed, police said, and that she brought him along so he could watch their child while she was in the Apple store.

The couple started arguing in the “play area of the mall,” police said, and Zendejas removed things from a diaper bag he was carrying and threw them around.

The girlfriend told police that she and Zendejas “had been arguing a lot lately because William had recently taken another girlfriend,” according to the report. She went on to explain “they were also arguing because William had told (her) today that he was planning on becoming a Latin King.”

Zendejas was released on bond.
