Attempted Murder, Domestic Battery Charges In Orland Stabbing: PD
A 43-year-old Chicago Ridge man reportedly had a turbulent relationship with the victim, and followed her to the gym before the stabbing.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A Chicago Ridge man faces several charges following what was believed to be a domestic-related stabbing outside an Orland Park fitness facility Sunday afternoon.
Peter Surdyk, 43, was charged Monday with attempted murder, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery in a public place following the stabbing outside Life Time Fitness Sunday afternoon.
A woman was reportedly stabbed in the chest outside the gym at 16333 S. La Grange Rd. just before 2 p.m. Sunday. The woman and Surdyk were found to have an on-again, off-again relationship for the past year, Orland Park police said Monday. Investigators learned that Surdyk followed the victim to Life Time Fitness and waited for the victim to exit the building before the attack

The victim was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where she is listed as in stable condition.
Surdyk, now identified as the suspect, fled and was stopped by police near 149th and La Grange Road, where he was taken into custody.

He's due in bond court on Tuesday.
