Bit The Hand That Caught Her - Thieving Woman Chomped On Security Guard: Cops

The thieving Blue Island woman bit the security guard who caught her, police said.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A thieving Blue Island woman bit a security guard’s hand after she was caught stealing from the J.C. Penney at the Orland Square Mall, police said.

Gabriela Munoz-Sanchez, 32, walked into the department store with an empty American Eagle shopping bag, police said, then proceeded to stuff it with three pairs of Converse children’s sneakers, four pairs of jeans, a black down jacket, a faux leather jacket and a fringed vest. Munoz-Sanchez then reportedly left the J.C. Penney without paying for any of it.

A security guard reportedly followed Munoz-Sanchez into the parking lot and asked her to step back inside.

According to police, “Gabriela was cooperative and was escorted back into the store,” but once she got in, “Gabriela turned and ran back out of the store.”

The security guard reportedly pursued Munoz-Sanchez into the parking lot and caught up to her. The guard “grabbed onto Gabriela’s purse strap to prevent her escape when Gabriela pulled (the guard’s) left hand towards her mouth and bit her index finger,” police said.

A second store employee then went out to help and Munoz-Sanchez was subdued until the cops arrived, police said.

Munoz-Sanchez’s bite drew blood, police said. A fire department paramedic tended to the security guard’s cut and bleeding finger.
Munoz-Sanchez was charged with retail theft and the aggravated battery of a merchant. The police also had her 2000 Chevy Silverado towed.
