Jilted Boyfriend Breaks Into Ex's Home, Stabs New Lover With Screwdriver, Rams Car During Chase: Cops

The Orland Park man was apparently unhappy with his ex-girlfriend's new guy, according to police.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A jilted boyfriend forced his way into his ex’s Orland Park home, slashed and stabbed her new lover with a screwdriver, then chased the fleeing man and rammed his car as he was trying to escape, police said.

The 25-year-old woman and her new boyfriend were in her basement when they heard the garage door open about 3 a.m. Monday, police said.

The woman went to the front door to see what was going on and her former boyfriend, 28-year-old Ricardo Castillo-Olivares, also of Orland Park, allegedly forced his way inside and knocked her to the ground. Castillo-Olivares then brandished a large flathead screwdriver and attacked the 23-year-old boyfriend, police said.

The girlfriend attempted to intervene and put a stop to the violence “but was unsuccessful,” police said.

The boyfriend reportedly suffered multiple lacerations to his arms and a puncture wound to his forearm before he was able to run off, jump in his Volkswagen and speed away.

But as he was making his getaway, the boyfriend spotted a red Dodge Dakota coming at him — and Castillo-Olivares behind the wheel, police said. Castillo-Olivares allegedly rammed the back of the Volkswagen, then hit it a few more times as he pursued the boyfriend onto 143rd Street.

Before long, the boyfriend reportedly spotted an Orland Park police car and flagged down the officer. The law caught up to Castillo-Olivares on 153rd Street and he was taken into custody.

Castillo-Olivares was arrested and taken to the Will County jail. He was booked on charges of home invasion, aggravated battery, domestic battery and criminal damage to property.
