Learn About Orland Hills Water at Party in the Park

The Illinois American Water's Mobile Education Center (MEC) will be on display at Orland Hills Party in the Park on June 27.

The Illinois American Water’s Mobile Education Center (MEC) will be on display at Orland Hills Party in the Park on June 27.

What is the Mobile Education Center?

  • A custom designed and built trailer to provide a platform for education about the water industry.
  • The MEC features internal and external access to work areas that can be set up with equipment and information for those who participate in the programs or presentations given by Illinois American Water.
  • The MEC features laboratory equipment which is used to perform hands on water testing. The inside also features a large LED television to view educational videos or other audio/visual aids.

Why you should tour the MEC? The MEC is available for events throughout Illinois to promote the value of the Earth’s most precious resource – water.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience Illinois American Water’s award winning Mobile Education Center (MEC). The 18-foot learning center uses science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related concepts and provides hands-on water testing and learning experiences. While the MEC travels across the state to educate Illinois school children about water quality, water treatment and the value of water service, the MEC can be seen at numerous community events to educate water users of all ages.
