Library Celebrates the Season with Winter Wonderfest

Winter reading is coming, and Orland Park Public Library is ready to celebrate with Winter Wonderfest, a festive all-ages event on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Patrons of all ages are invited to wind their way through the library to enjoy wintry demos, crafts, warm drinks, live music, and even some special animal guests. The celebration will conclude at 2 p.m. with “Juggling Funny Stories” by Chris Fascione, a nationally-known family entertainer who brings stories to life with his high-energy blend of acting, storytelling, comedy, and juggling. His performance is sure to have the whole family laughing out loud!

The Winter Wonderfest marks the official kickoff of the library’s annual Winter Reading Program, which runs December 1 through January 31. Readers of all ages can participate in themed challenges and earn prizes for their reading accomplishments:

• Blizzard of Books (Adults): Every book you read earns one entry into prize drawings! Sign up at the Adult Services Desk or through the Beanstack app.
• Little Reading Dragons (Babies – Age 6): Read 30 books and receive a dragon ducky as your reward.
• Reading Dragons (Grades K–5): Collect Reading Dragons and other Mythical Creature trading cards. You’ll earn more cards for every 80 minutes read! Complete your set to enter a prize drawing.
• Read a Latte (Teens): Track your books in the Beanstack app and read your way to delicious prizes throughout the winter.

The library is also seeking teen volunteers for Winter Wonderfest. Students in grades 6–12 can earn four volunteer hours by helping with stations and activities on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Registration opens November 15.
