A 73-year-old Crestwood woman is heartbroken after her Jack Russell mix ran from the vet.

ORLAND PARK, IL - A Crestwood woman is heartbroken a month after her beloved dog, Sammie got away. The dog, a Jack Russell mix, got loose outside a veterinarian office near 183rd Street and Wolf Road in Orland Park on Feb. 19.
"We were taking him to the vet and put the leash on him, but he didn't want any part of it and took off running," said Barbara, Sammie's owner for five years.
A 73-year-old grandmother who has trouble walking, Barbara was unable to chase after Sammie.

"I hope and I pray. I'm nervous because he is a little dog and could be hiding somewhere."
Barbara says she and Sammie were inseparable.
"He's my boy," she said. "He was always with me. I couldn't walk down the hallway without him following me. And he loved to go on his walks."
"I remember the day I adopted him. The way he looked at me, I could just see the little love in his eyes."
Barbara is grateful for the community effort behind finding Sammie.
"I have it in my heart that he is trying to come home," she said.
