LOWV Holds Meeting On Abolishing Electoral College
Movements to abolish the electoral college picked up after Trump won the 2016 election. The League of Women Voters wants your thoughts.
ORLAND PARK, IL — The League of Women Voters of the Palos Orland Area will hold a public meeting on reforming the Electoral College. The League has advocated for abolishing the Electoral College in the United States since 1970.
It joins others who believe the system of selecting the president is archaic and no longer working as intended, LOWV officials said. The idea picked up steam after President Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election because the Electoral College favored him.
Rosemary Heilemann from the League of Women Voters of Illinois Electoral College Committee will serve as the guest speaker.
