New Frozen Yogurt Bar Opens in Orland Park
A well-liked Italian beef shop closes in Palos Park, a new tobacco store opens in Orland Park and a new haircut-for-men salon is looking for employees.
Ron and Jane Roehr, along with their daughter Alison Stogsdill, followed their own taste buds when they decided to open a CherryBerry Yogurt Bar in Orland Park.
“We like their yogurt,” Ron Roehr said Friday. “It’s made fresh, with real ingredients and no powder mix. It has active cultures in it as well.”
The new CherryBerry at 15890 S. LaGrange Road in the Lake View shopping center is the first food service business run by the family, and opened to the public on Friday.

The bar features 14 flavors of non-fat and low-fat frozen yogurt, with an array of toppings including candy and fresh fruit. Yogurt flavors are rotated as the year goes, and each yogurt machine can create a swirl blend of two flavors. The yogurt with toppings is sold at 57 cents an ounce, so customers make their own creation and weigh it at the register to pay. Options for people with dairy or gluten issues are available.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based chain recently starting opening Illinois locations, Ron Roehr said. The Roehrs chose the corner in between Firehouse Subs and Buffalo Wild Wings in part for the foot traffic.

“It appears to be a very active business community here,” Ron Roehr said. “The surrounding businesses at this particular sport were compatible with a frozen yogurt bar as well.”
The location is open seven days a week, features several flat screen TVs and WiFi, and has a party room available by reservation. The room is free to use, though a purchase is encouraged. The business also encourages people to stick around for a while, with couches and other comfortable seating.
“It’s a fun atmosphere,” said general manager Mary Whiteman. “You can bring sports teams in after a game, or a dance group after a practice, and it’s a healthier option than others.”
Cloud Tobacco Filling Hookah and Cigar Gap
Cloud Tobacco opened in Orland Park at 14478 S. LaGrange Road about a month ago.
The retail store sells hookah tobacco, hookahs, cigarettes in packs, e-cigarettes, loose cigarette tobacco, rolling papers, accessories and cigars with a walk-in humidor.
The store is family-owned along with a different store in Bridgeview that only sells hookah items, so the cigar addition is a first for the owners, according to manager Mo Metwally.
“A lot of people asked us about both hookahs and cigars at the same time, so we’re trying to do something different,” Metwally said Friday. “The owner also had been thinking about doing it for a long time. There’s also a lot of Middle Eastern people here who wanted something closer, without having to drive to Bridgeview.”
The store is open seven days a week and tobacco items cannot be sampled inside the store, Metwally said.
“We’re trying to get that going,” Metwally said, about getting clearance to smoke inside the store. “It would be very nice to do so.”
The store will soon have a complete website up at www.cloudtobaccostore.com.
Tony’s Beef Closed in Palos Park
Tony’s Beef, a beloved local Italian beef purveyor, closed its Palos Park location about a month ago.
A sign left on the front door thanked patrons for their support over the last five years at the shop at 9664 W. 131st St, though it didn’t specifically cite why they closed.
The sign reads:
Our decision to close this location was an extremely difficult one to make. We have met and became friends with some great people.
It has been our honor to serve you and we would appreciate your continuous patronage by supporting our other locations.
Promotional cards and gift certificates will still be honored at the Chicago location, 7007 S. Pulaski Rd.
The location is for sale. Those interested can contact realtor John G. Moauro at 708-349-1111 and jmoauro@aol.com.
