No Reason To Be Bored: Hot Events At Orland's History Museum
Sports, wine night and an illusionist are all on tap in September at Orland Park's History Museum.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Mark your calendars for September events at the Village of Orland Park's History Museum.
“We’ve added some great events to the museum calendar for September,” said Village of Orland Park Trustee and Museum Liaison Kathy Fenton in a statement.
The Fashionistas Through the Decades: The History of Ladies’ Fashion exhibit opener will be held on Sat. Sept. 7 from 12 to 2 p.m. Guests can expect a brief discussion about the exhibit and enjoy refreshments. The exhibit runs through Jan. 4.

“The exhibit will tell the story of women’s fashion through textiles from the museum’s permanent collection dating back to the 1860’s,” said Orland Park History Museum Curator Sarah Stasukewicz. “It really is amazing to see how fashion has evolved over the years and the trends that took place throughout the decades.”
Check out the museum’s Fri., Sept. 13, event, Black Sox, Billy Goats and the Monsters of the Midway: Chicago Sports featuring guest speaker, Clarence Goodman. Goodman plans to present a history of Chicago sports including what he describes as “weird history and somewhat sordid tales” while offering something for every Chicago sports enthusiast. The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended with a fee of $10 for museum members and $15 for non-members.

On Fri., Sept. 20, 2019, the museum will host Ladies’ Wine Night, a fundraiser benefitting future programming and museum preservation supplies. The event begins at 6 p.m. and includes a tour of the historic fashion exhibit and wine tastings provided by Peace Marketplace. This event is for guests age 21 and over. Pre-registration is recommended with a fee of $35 for members and $40 for non-members.
The vastly-popular Sensory Illusionist-Jeanette Andrews returns to the Orland Park History Museum on Fri., Sept. 27, 2019 at 7 p.m. The internationally acclaimed artist will present close-up illusions while weaving together science and folklore with performance and experiments. Andrews has performed hundreds of shows across the country with praise from the Public Broadcasting Station, the Daily Mail and the Chicago Tribune. Guests will enjoy refreshments and an evening of mysteries and illusions. Wine is included with ticket purchase. Pre-registration is recommended for the event with a fee of $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
Museum memberships are available for $10 for an individual and $20 for a family membership at the Sportsplex office, village hall cashier’s office, at the museum as well as online at orlandpark.org.
