Orland Man Abducted By ICE Impersonators, Tied Up, Robbed: Police

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Orland Park Police Department said a woman was arrested in connection with a kidnapping reported in October, and a man remains at large. According to police, an Orland man said he was kidnapped by two people claiming to be special agents with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

On Oct. 12, 2020, police said the man was entering the parking lot of his residence when several people who identified themselves as ICE agents told him he was under arrest. The impersonators then held a gun to the man's head, handcuffed him, put a ski mask over his face and took him to another car, police said. The man told police his abductors drove away with him, while one of them drove away in his car.

Police said the man was driven to another unidentified location, where the abductors bound his hands and legs, while covering his mouth and eyes. They then demanded money from the man in exchange for setting him free. The impersonators then took the man’s wallet and withdrew money from his bank account before letting him go, police said.

Police said the crime was not random, and that the man was targeted. A day after the abduction and car theft, police said they found the man's car in Chicago and identified multiple suspects.

As months went on, police said a prolonged investigation lead to arrest warrants for Jaime Ortiz,37, of Chicago, and Denise Dominguez, 29, of Gary, Indiana. According to police, the two were charged with of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated vehicular hijacking.

Police said on Jan. 5, Dominguez was taken into custody in Chicago, but Ortiz couldn't be found. Dominguez was taken to the Bridgeview Courthouse, where she was issued a $250,000 bond, and an arrest warrant was issued for Ortiz in the amount of $250,000, police said.
