GMG3 Sawyer worked many duty station assignments from 1976 to 1982, then he served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. GMG3 Sawyer’s last major assignment was involved with the Iranian hostage crisis in November of 1979 in Iran, working amongst other military units and the intelligence community, including U.S. Navy SEALs. Among other duty assignments, he was a shellback for crossing the Equator, and he always liked to keep his life private from his family so as not to worry them. He served his country and the U.S. Navy with distinction. He's a quiet man, retired professionally as a law enforcement officer from the East Coast and in the Chicago, Illinois, area.
