Orland Park PD Hiring More Officers, Applications Open Soon
Applications open Dec. 6. Due by Jan. 19, 2026.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Village of Orland Park announced that applications for new police officers will open on December 6, 2025. Interested candidates may apply online or in person at the Orland Park Police Department, Timothy J. McCarthy Building, 15100 S. Ravinia Ave.
The Orland Park Police Department offers a starting salary of $90,574.88 annually, or higher for lateral candidates with prior sworn law enforcement experience. Officers receive annual step increases, with a current salary after six years of $128,835.46.
Applications must be submitted online by 5 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2026, or postmarked by the same date if mailed. Completed applications may also be delivered in person to the police station.

Applicants must be United States citizens, at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age (except as permitted by statute), and must be in good physical and mental condition. Candidates are required to have 60 semester hours of college credit, or 45 semester hours plus one year of continuous active-duty military service.
An open house for applicants will be held Jan. 10, 2026, at the Orland Park Police Station. Candidates are encouraged to attend to meet the department, tour the facilities, and learn about the testing process.

Mandatory orientation for applicants will be held Jan. 24, 2026, at 9 a.m., with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. The written examination will take place Feb. 7, 2026, with sign-in at 8:30 a.m. Both sessions will be held at the Orland Park Police Department Timothy J. McCarthy Building.
Applicants must have a valid POWER test card prior to the written exam and will be required to successfully complete the written examination, oral interview, medical and optical examinations, psychological evaluation and a background investigation, including compliance with the Police Department Employment Drug Policy.
The Orland Park Police Department offers opportunities for professional development and advancement. The agency operates on 12-hour shifts beginning February 2026 and supports ongoing career growth with tuition reimbursement, 22 supervisor positions that provide internal advancement opportunities, and a wide range of specialized training and certification programs. The department also operates the Drone as First Responder Program and a village-owned training facility that includes an on-site range. Lateral hires are accepted and encouraged to apply.
