Orland Park Police Blotter: Heroin, Needles in Car and Stolen Cosmetics

Stolen Cosmetics

Police were called about a retail theft at Sears around 4:55 p.m. Security said a man was seen taking 10 miscellaneous cosmetic items and dropping them into a shopping bag from another store, police said. The man then picked up a few other store items, but put them down before leaving the store without paying for the cosmetics, according to the report. The merchandise is worth $104, police said. Joseph D. Lee, 20, of the 400 block of Elmwood Avenue in Joliet, was charged with retail theft.

Driving with Heroin and Needles

Police pulled over a car for driving over lane lines in the 15700 block of LaGrange Road around 6:20 p.m. The driver and passenger appeared nervous and spoke quickly, and police found the driver’s license was suspended and he was recently arrested for possession of a controlled substance, police said. The officer found several hypodermic needles and a baggie with heroin in it inside the car, according to the report. Police also found a needle, as well as a spoon and the bottom of a pop can, both burnt with heroin residue on them, in a wrist purse in the car, police said. William A. Wegman, 22, of the 800 block of Pratt Street in Crown Point, Ind., was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic needle, improper lane use and driving with a suspended license. Lauren A. Keammerer, 20, of the 11000 block of Oregon Lane in Crown Point, Ind., was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe.

Warrant Arrest

Police were called about a man wanted on an Orland Park warrant who was being held at the Will County Jail around 12:55 a.m. David A. Vandermeer, 30, of the 24600 block of Pleasant Court in Plainfield, was arrested on a warrant for aggravated assault.
