Orland Park Police Blotter: Thieves Try a Reckless Escape

Reckless Getaway

Police were called about a retail theft at Pandora’s Rack around 6:10 p.m. Store staff told police that the people responsible were driving away in a red pickup truck, police said. An officer saw a truck matching the description given and followed it, according to the report. The officer saw it drive through an intersection in the left-turn-only lane, and through a red light at LaGrange Road and 153rd Street, and again at LaGrange Road and 156th Street, police said. The truck was pulled over in the 15800 block of LaGrange Road, where store staff identified the driver and two passengers as the people responsible, according to the report. Staff said a woman was seeing taking a gold purse from a display and left the store without paying, according to the report. A man and woman then told the clerk she was just getting her wallet, before they also left the store, police said. The purse is worth $224.99, police said. Mark Blanca, 20, of the 8700 block of 55th Court in Oak Lawn, was charged with retail theft and reckless driving. Diana Lumas, 21, of the 5400 block of Archer Avenue in Chicago, and Christine Miller, 43, of the 1500 block of Scottsdale Road in Tempe, Ariz., were each charged with retail theft.

Back of the Head

Police were looking for a man wanted on an active warrant at Giordano’s around 10 p.m. A store manager said the man was working that night in the kitchen, but the man saw police and fled, escaping police after a foot chase, according to the report. When police came back to the business, officers were told that another employee struck the manager in the back of the head while they searched for the employee wanted on a warrant, according to the report. A witness said confirmed the manager’s story about being struck, police said. While the man was in custody, police found a Tinley Park warrant for battery, and he was turned over to their officers, according to the report. Santos Campos-Briones, 33, of the 9100 block of Lincoln Court in Orland Park was charged with battery and arrested on a warrant for battery.

Warrant Arrest

Police were called about a man in Chicago police’s custody who was wanted on an Orland Park warrant around 3 p.m. Jerry Henderson, 34, of the 700 block of Burr Oak Lane in University Park, was arrested on a warrant for retail theft.
