Orland's Skogsberg Resigns As District 135 Superintendent
Orland District 135 Supt. DJ Skogsberg has resigned after taking a surprise leave of absence last month. The reasons are not known.

ORLAND PARK, IL â Orland District 135 Supt. DJ Skogsberg has resigned after taking a surprise leave of absence last month.
The district's school board voted to approve his resignation at Monday night's regularly scheduled meeting. Skogsberg's resignation is effective June 30.
Officials notified parents by email that Assistant Superintendent John Bryk will continue filling in his duties on an interim role, one he has served since March 12, when Skogsberg first requested a leave of absence.

The reasons for the leave and the resignation are not fully known. His resignation letter states only "personal reasons."

The district has been under scrutiny for a $2.5 million budget deficit.

In February, a lawsuit between a teacher who alleged she was not promoted because she declined advances by Superintendent DJ Skogsberg and Orland District 135 moved forward in the court system.
Heather Conrad, a Jerling Junior High teacher, filed a lawsuit in 2017 that accuses the district of sex discrimination and retaliation.
The district has denied all of her allegations.
The next hearing for that case is scheduled for July.
