Police Seeking 2 Teen Carjacking Suspects

Police say they arrested one suspected carjacker after a pursuit, and that one of the remaining two may be armed.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park police are looking for two teenagers in the area of 153rd and Hilltop Drive who they say were involved in a carjacking. They say one of the boys may be armed.

Police said the carjacking happened in Matteson Monday morning. It led to a pursuit which ended around 153rd and Hilltop where police detained one suspect, but the other two got away.

District 230 confirmed to Patch that all three schools were under soft lockdown as a result of the search, but as of 9:15 a.m., operations were back to normal with an increased police presence on campus.

Police describe the boys two as black teenagers wearing dark hoodies.

"We appreciate the cooperation and support of our families throughout the morning. The safety of our students and staff continues to be our highest priority," said Carla Erdey, Director of Communications, in the statement.

Officers will be around the area until the situation's resolved, they said on their Facebook page.

The WLS report says police believe the suspects may have left the area, but that has not been confirmed.
