Armed Robbery Suspect In Custody After Standoff With Police: Orland PD

The suspect barricaded themself inside a car after leading police on a chase through multiple towns Tuesday night.

ORLAND PARK, IL — An armed robbery suspect is in custody Tuesday night, following a standoff with authorities in Orland Park after leading police on a chase through multiple communities.

The suspect barricaded themself inside a car near 149th and LaGrange Road in Orland Park, a source told Patch. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident at about 9 p.m.

The suspect and vehicle were turned over to Palos Heights police for investigation. The area and all roadways were cleared for traffic as of 9:30 p.m.

The suspect reportedly led police on a chase through Orland Park and Tinley Park after allegedly committing an armed robbery in another city, police said.

A witness reported seeing multiple police units pursuing a white sedan southbound as far south as 171st and Harlem Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Scanner reports say the police chase was then near 151st and West Avenue around 8 p.m., with a police helicopter overhead. The South Suburban Emergency Response Team was also called to the scene.
