Sandburg and Shepard Hosting Relay for Life This Weekend

The two area high schools will be hosting all night fundraising and awareness events sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Carl Sandburg High School and Alan B. Shepard High School are hosting Relays for Life between Friday and Sunday.

Relay for Life is an effort through the American Cancer Society to raise money for research and awareness about the disease, while honoring friends and loved ones lost to cancer. The events include overnight campouts around a track, where someone is always walking around the track.

“We don’t sleep that night because cancer never sleeps,” Erica Gillian, American Cancer Society event organizer, said in a release.
