Two teachers at Orland Dist. 135 have been named Apple Distinguished Educators for integrating tech into teaching and learning.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Two instructional technology coaches at Orland District 135 have been named Apple Distinguished Educators, a recognition given by the Apple company to teachers who excel at integrating technology into teaching and learning.

Kara McFarlin and Michelle Thorne have been named Apple Distinguished Educators, joining a network of educators who have applied for and achieved ADE status.

"McFarlin and Thorne are driving innovative forces in District 135, constantly encouraging staff to think outside the box when it comes to technology in the classroom," spokeswoman Jen Obright said in a statement.

Apple created the program in 1994 to recognize K to 12 and higher education teachers who using Apple technology to transform teaching and learning. The program is made up of more than 2,800 visionary and innovative leaders in education worldwide
