2 Dead In Oswego Crash Involving Semi: Police
Police said a semi-truck got stuck after a failed U-turn and was hit by a car, killing both of the auto's occupants.
OSWEGO, IL — Two Oswego residents — a 73-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman — died in a crash involving a semi-trailer on Tuesday, and the semi-driver was cited for attempting to make a U-turn, police said.
Oswego police responded to a crash involving a semi-truck and a Buick LeSabre around 11:20 p.m. on Route 30 near Treasure Drive. Officers found the semi perpendicular to the roadway, blocking both lanes of traffic.
Police said the Buick had collided with the semi-truck, and the car's two occupants needed to be extricated from the vehicle. They were declared dead at the scene by the Kendall County coroner.

The identities of the man who was driving the car and his passenger are not being released at this time.
Police said the driver and passenger in the semi-truck were not injured.

According to initial investigation, the semi-truck driver had tried to make a U-turn and the truck became lodged perpendicular to the roadway east of Treasure Drive, police said. The Buick was traveling westbound on Route 30 when it hit the semi-truck, police said.
The Illinois State Police’s Reconstruction Unit assisted in the investigation, which remains active. Route 30 was shut down from Treasure Drive to Wolf Road for around nine hours.
The driver of the semi-truck, Gabriel Magee, 30, of Wayne, Michigan, was issued citations related to the attempted U-turn and stopping/standing on the roadway, police said.
