Anchor Bar To Open First Illinois Location In Oswego
The restaurant, which specializes in buffalo chicken wings, will be located in the former Famous Dave Bar-B-Que location.
OSWEGO, IL — Known for its buffalo chicken wings, Anchor Bar is opening its first Illinois location in Oswego. The Buffalo, New York-born restaurant advertises itself as being the "birthplace of the chicken wing."
The Oswego Village Board welcomed the restaurant to town and approved its liquor license at Tuesday evening's regular meeting.
The restaurant — with an extensive menu, full bar, family-friendly dining area and outdoor patio — will be located in the space that once belonged to Famous Dave Bar-B-Que, at 2440 Route 34.

Currently under renovation, Oswego's Anchor Bar is expected to open in the summer, village officials said. Once open, the dining spot will be operating seven days a week.
"Laura and I have raised our family of three in the Oswego area for over 15 years and appreciate all Oswego has to offer," owner Samm Dimech said in a statement.

A place sports enthusiasts will be able to visit, there will be more than 40 TVs and multiple audio spots throughout Anchor Bar, according to village officials. But those coming for the food will be in luck as the menu offers a little bit of everything: wings and sauces, pizza, beef sandwiches, salads, sandwiches and burgers.
People who will want to visit Anchor Bar to enjoy a drink will have many to choose from, spanning local and national selections of beer on tap, wine and craft cocktails.
"In addition to the mouthwatering signature chicken wings, there's something on our menu for everyone," Dimech said. "Whether it’s a date night, family celebration, sports team event or a night with friends, Anchor Bar is your destination."
Village President Troy Parlier is among those excited about Oswego's new dining option.
"We’re thrilled to welcome Anchor Bar and its famous Buffalo wings to Oswego," Village President Troy Parlier said in a statement. "It will be a tremendous place to enjoy great food and drinks and watch sports. Oswego has so many great things happening right now, including Anchor Bar choosing Oswego as their first location in the state."
