Annual Christmas Walk To Be Celebrated Over A Week Amid Pandemic
Due to Gov. J.B. Pritzker's new mitigations, Christmas Walk Week will be held in lieu of Main Street festivities.
OSWEGO, IL — As the coronavirus pandemic continues, the village of Oswego decided to stretch out its Christmas Walk festivities over a whole week. In a release Wednesday, the village announced that the annual downtown tradition has been reimagined as Christmas Walk Week:Keeping Spirits Bright.
Due to Gov. J.B. Pritzker's new mitigations which prohibit large gatherings, Christmas Walk Week will be held in lieu of Main Street festivities originally planned for Dec. 4. The Silent Light Parade scheduled for Dec. 5 has also been canceled.
The village, Oswego Downtown Association, and presenting sponsor Allied First
Bank will keep supporting Oswego businesses with drive- through, socially distanced, and online events, beginning with the online premier of the Tree Lighting Ceremony and the in-person Cookie Walk on Dec. 5, and culminating with the Christmas Drive on Dec. 12.

In between, look forward to illuminated holiday care-avans throughout Oswego’s neighborhoods and downtown business features, with sneak peaks into the unique finds available at the local stores.
On Dec. 12, the Christmas Drive-Through Celebration will feature "music,
illuminated holiday displays, and appearances from some very special holiday guests at the site
of the future Oswego Entertainment Venue, on Station Drive in Oswego," the release said.

"Coming together to support one another is at the heart of our community spirit, and that
never changes," Village President Troy Parlier said. "Given the circumstances, we need to make
changes to this year’s Christmas Walk, but we’ve got amazing things in store, and I encourage all Oswego residents to join us in celebrating the season safely, and especially to support our independent downtown businesses this year."
