'Armed Suicidal' Man Taken Into Custody Near Sam's Club Distribution Center: Oswego Police
As a precaution, police asked nearby residents to move to their basements or away from exterior walls while officers searched for the man.

OSWEGO, IL — An "armed suicidal" man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after a 911 caller reported he left his residence with a handgun, Oswego police said.
Officers were dispatched at 1:08 a.m. to the 300 block of Kensington Drive after a caller reported the man, telling police he was a veteran and may be aggressive toward police.
Police from Oswego and neighboring jurisdictions established a perimeter and began a coordinated search of the area. Investigators also deployed a drone to help find the man, locating him near the Sam's Club Distribution Center, on Wiesbrook Drive.

Crisis negotiators and tactical personnel were called to the scene, and after several hours of negotiating, the man surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident and later taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

"The Oswego Police Department extends its appreciation to all assisting agencies for their coordinated efforts, which contributed to the safe resolution of this incident," officials said in a news release.
