1 Woman Dead, 1 Injured In Boulder Hill Shooting: Sheriff

Based on the initial investigation, "this is not believed to be a random act," the sheriff's office said.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — A Wednesday morning shooting in the unincorporated Boulder Hill subdivision left one woman dead and another injured, the Kendall County Sheriff's Department said.

Deputies responded to a home around 11:06 a.m. on the 0-99 block of Sierra Road and found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the women, who was in her 40s, was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said. The second woman, who was in her 20s, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and is receiving ongoing medical treatment.

Detectives collected evidence from the scene, while police said they believe someone may have shot the women from a vehicle.

"At this time it appears the shots were fired from the roadway, possibly from a vehicle. A black SUV was seen in the area at the time of the shooting," a release from the sheriff's office said.

Based on the initial investigation, police do not believe the shooting was random.

The Sheriff's Office said that at this time, there are three persons of interest, and with the assistance of the Aurora Police Department, police have also identified the vehicle involved. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
